NEW YEAR TECHNIQUE TUNE UP!

The Mechanics of Musicality
New Year Technique Tune-Up!

First 3 Sundays in January

1pm - 2pm (Banjo & Mandolin)

3pm - 4pm (Flute & Whistle)

(all times eastern US)

It’s the start of a new year and that makes it a perfect time to tackle those frustrating technical issues that have tormented us for longer than we care to remember. Let’s take this gift of another year to strengthen the foundational elements of our playing, gain control of our technique and become more confident and musical players.

Over time we are all susceptible to the creep of bad habits that find their way into our practice. The goal of this “Technique Tune Up” masterclass is to identify those trouble areas, provide context for how to think about them, and learn the exercises that will help build the techniques needed to improve.

We will dive into all manner of techniques for the strings and the winds working through a tune I have written specially for this masterclass. Using this tune we will  highlight the most commonly used and needed techniques, variations on those techniques, and examine where, when, and how to use them. We will also discuss the importance of melody and how technical mastery aids in our ability to fully express ourselves through it. And bring your questions! I love Q&A's!

Registration is open now!   All classes will be held on Zoom. One week before the first class you will receive an email with the Zoom link. Upon registering you will receive an audio download and pdf file of the tune we will use throughout the course within the following couple of days. To get the most out of the course it’s recommended that you learn the tune before we start. It doesn’t need to be perfect but a working knowledge will be very helpful!

I hope you will be able to join us!

Registration is required. All classes will be held on Zoom and recorded for those who cannot join in real time.
